SOCJA is concerned over journalists detention in Southern Somalia regions.
In a protesting statement issued by the Somalia based South and
Central Journalists Association (SOCJA) condemns journalists detention
in Southern Somalia regions.
Mohamed Abdki karim and Omar Salihi had been detained by the
Alshabaab administration in that area as they work for regional radio
stations.
Mohamed was the Mogadishu based Horn-Afrik radio corespondent
from the town of Beledhawo and the Salihi is general director for
Markabley radio in Bardere .
they were sent in to pirson but witnesses say journalists were accused of covering anti islamist stories that yet seems untrue .
latest arrest against Mohamed and Salihi is looking as another way paving new media oppressions to emerge.
Alshabaab raises anti freedom campaigns through out the areas
they controlled by taking drastic measures against media and journalism
professionals.
" we need freedom of expression and media access , as we see
tensions against stories alternatively I asks Alshabaab to find
another way that can proceed journalism in to profissional ruther then
threatening to , or offend journalists work, said Mohamed Ali Nuxurkey
with the leadership of Somalia based South and Central Journalists
Association (SOCJA).
Crisis highly became sophisticated against media in Somalia
recently specially in areas where Alshabaab is strongholds , as years
of media violations leave journalism's in Somalia yet to be remain in
repressed as a result of their professional work.
